Aston Villa Football Club was formed in 1874 and was a dominant force in English football in the late 19th Century winning 5 First Division titles. The club has a huge fan base and is arguably the biggest club in the Midlands, and has a fierce rivalry with West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Birmingham FC.
The club has won the title within the top tier of English football a total of 7 times, the FA Cup 7 times and the European Cup in 1982.
Martin O’Neill took control of the club three years ago and has built a team which is now challenging for a place in the top four of English football. Star player is Gareth Barry.
