After years of planning to move from this historic site next to the River Thames, it looks as if, for a few years at least, Fulham will be staying put and, for many fans, this is almost as good news as qualifying for Europe was last season.
Don't worry, though – it's not all antique. This season sees the opening of the new McBrides Pub – named after the American striker who was twice Fulham's player of the year in recent years.
And as for the team - Roy Hodgson, a man who proves that nice people can do well in sport, has blended a team that has pretty well dumbfounded the media pundits for the past season and a half. Hardworking, skilful, totally committed to the team's cause, this largely unheralded group of players upset a lot of the so-called 'big boys' last year and looks set to do likewise this coming season. Come to the Cottage and see them try.
